I do not want a quick or simplistic answer to my question (comment to the post below) about Calvinism. Those overabundant truisms have, in fact, provoked my interest in learning something for myself about calvinism and puritanism. So, instead of regurgitating what every pundit know, I will be investigating Jonathan Edwards (and others) a bit more closely.
One of Jonathan Edwards' books that I recommend you read is entitled, Charity and Its Fruits: Christian Love as manifested in the heart and life (Banner of Truth Trust, 1969; originally published 1852).
