The Life, Faith, and Teachings of Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI
This little book (approx. 135 pgs) is remarkable. It's a "personal" book, not in the sense of Marco having a personal friendship with B16, but in the way that he develops the history of friendships that B16 had with Kung, Balthasar, de Lubac & Woytla. He does a good job in giving a short history of the Concilium vs. Communio camps before, during, and after the Second Vatical Council. There much more than just this topic in the book including a great family history, his various teaching (academic) experiences, and events while as Prefect of the CDF. If you're not familiar with Germany, specifically Bavaria, Marco does a great job giving the history of the region, which provides the context of where B16 served either as an academic at various schools or as bishop/archbishop.
