Whatever your misgivings about Bush's handling of Iraq, pre-emptive action would be more than justified here. From now on, modify your blog to permit registered Blogger users only. While it won't completely stop the riff-raff, it may help to quell obnoxious infestations such as these.
Just to clarify my earlier post, there were 9 comments here last night -- 8 of which were spam. (Thanks for clearing those out). Given that Blogger is owned/operated by Google, it's becoming a chief target for spammers to target their commenting system as it builds link-recognition.
Sometimes, but haloscan provides additional bulwark against spammers with banning of IP addresses (static or ranges) -- hence it provides an additional bulwark against repeat offenders.
Per Christopher suggestion, I added some protection against spammers, i.e. Word Verification. This should stop the automatic spam. The question is should I put only registered Blogger.com users? I held off b/c sometimes good people are not registered (even though it's free and rather easy) and will add comments as Anonymous, but with their name. But I also seem to a problem with a few folks who refuse to show their face and use Anonymous to hind behind. Their comments humor me though, but are an irritant as well.

This doesn't happen with Haloscan comboxes, does it?
