Sounds like a great book. I'm well acquainted with most of the figures, but particulary interested in the rehabilitation of Jack Keroac as 'traditional Catholic', given his near-mythical status in hippiedom.
Kerouac and I gew up in the same city, I still work there, and live in the next town and we go to his favorite Shrine in Lowell. As a boy, I knew Fr. Armand "Spike" Morissette, OMI, his favorite priest --- And I'll tell you something I was told. I often go to the Franco American shrine / Lorudes grotto one time, near where JFK was born. I was told Kerouac, used to make the 14 stations of the cross on his knees, even though often inebriated before moving to Florida.
If that isn't a traditional Catholic I don't know what is.
