Liturgy: Benedict XVI Brings the Neocatechumenals Back to the Right Way
It's interesting to compare this report with the more optimistic, if cryptic, John Allen:
"The letter, whose contents were reported Thursday, Dec. 22, by Italian journalist Andrea Tornielli, is seen as a step towards full recognition of the movement by the Vatican."
A tree is known by its fruit, and by its fruit I know the Neocatechumenal Way to be a good for the Church. However, the yeild of even the best trees can be increased by careful pruning.

I expect that is what is happening here.
