This blog explores both historical and current events guided by the thought of the leading thinkers, past and present, of this school or movement of theology. Refer to the Classic Posts, Great and Contemporary Thinkers, various links of all kinds, in addition to the Archives themselves. David is the founder and manager of this website, but many friends contribute to it on a regular basis.
Hadn't realized that Noll converted. I supposed I should have suspected it, the title of his recent book on the the state of the intellect in Evangelicalism having been what it was. What concerns me about Noll and others with extra-curicular interests in Evangelical/Catholic ecumenism is it's now clear raison d'etre: the formation of a political alliance with the stench of Republican loyalties all too perceptible. Always the project of Neuhaus, Colson and company, such projects need to be given a more critical examination by the Church lest the George Weyrichs and Bill Donnellys of the world are to be seen as the voice of Catholicism in such matters. On the Catholic side, all such efforts at outreach ought be the province of Cardinal Kaspar's official undertakings in my view. Are memories so short that the events of inter-communion in Europe in the late 1960's have departed? Neuhaus and his First Things entourage need supervision and right away.
