Transformed? Protestants and American Culture

ISI Online Lectures - Transformed? Protestants and American Culture by Dr. D. G. Hart
Surprisingly, few historians of American Protestantism feature teaching about the millennium in their accounts... For American Protestants running from John Winthrop and Jonathan Edwards to Josiah Strong, postmillennialism was the dominant construction of salvation history. Basic to this conviction was the idea that the millennium, the time prophesied in the Bible as the era of Christ’s reign on earth, would emerge from the activities and labors of the church.
