Catholic Neocons Fail Attempt to Fit Popes

Vapid....had John Paul and Ratzinger came up with specific steps vis a vis Iraq's flouting of UN mandates for a decade, they would have some credibility. They did not do so but simply said no to war in several different paragraphs. Ratzinger's comments on Europe knowing of war's futility is bizarre since without war, Hitler would have taken Vatican City itself....though there would be pluses to our living in normal buildings and getting rid of "summer residences" for the servant of servants.
The world is polite to the Vatican because Catholics are votes to countries and customers to corporations but no one since the sex abuse security debacle of 4 decades would see either man as an expert in rescuing victims of coercion. The ten years following John Paul's entrance into the papacy was followed by about 500 sex allegations in the US....which is the rough number for the ten years prior to his reign. If you entered a job wherein previously 500 young people may have been raped, would you then start writing on birth control and networking with Reagan in regard to Poland? He did nothing of an emergency nature to stop that travesty which was an emergency not an issue that can be ignored while one writes Theology of the Body every week. Strangely if you read Weigel's Witness to Hope....you can find virtually nothing on the sex abuse scandal in 900 pages since trads are about emperor's new clothes approaches to Vatican image and emperor's new clothes Catholicism means leaving things out of the record or blaming the US as though the Pope's hands are tied by subsidiarity.
