My own experience with Jesuits has been quite good... My point? Having observed so many different Jesuits in their work, ministry and study, I can testify that those uninformed stereotypes which cast so much negativity on the Jesuit order as a whole are simply devoid of charity, understanding and catholicity.
This blog explores both historical and current events guided by the thought of the leading thinkers, past and present, of this school or movement of theology. Refer to the Classic Posts, Great and Contemporary Thinkers, various links of all kinds, in addition to the Archives themselves. Ahem. Not all of the criticisms of the Jesuit order are "uninformed stereotypes." Some of them has been formed over years of association with Jesuits and Jesuit institutions.
As a whole, the Jesuits were hit hard by the chaos following Vatican II.
There are many excellent Jesuits, but the esprit de corps has been deeply wounded. That is, when one meets a brilliant, orthodox Jesuit, one is struck more by the accomplishment of the individual than a common Ignatian formation.
