I don't see many films these days, so it's no surprise that I haven't seen Avatar. With limited movie watching I look for: 1. writing, 2. acting, 3. production values.
Reading the linked review, I noticed that the protagonist is named Jake Sully. Jacob (who wrestled with God) and sully, which names the act of smearing with soil, earth.
