Catholicity and Partiality

"Of course, there is no question here of a Catholic presumption, in the face of all other Christian and non-Christian positions, trying to deliver itself from them by calling them partial. For the position of God and Jesus Christ can never be the position of an individual Christian, and non-Catholic positions serve, nearly always, to remind the Catholic (often very drastically) of all that he has lost sight of, whether culpably or by forgetfulness; they remind him how far he is still from his own center."
Balthasar, My Works in Retrospect, p102.
