Here's a snippet:
In his most recent book, Abbot Joseph Homick, the superior of Holy Transfiguration Monastery (aka Mt Tabor Monastery), a Byzantine-rite Ukrainian Catholic monastic community in Redwood Valley, California, focuses on the spiritual as an Abbot should, but without neglecting that personalist concern for the social challenges in that desert some have called the secular city: "God creates roses, man makes bombs. God gives life; man snuffs it out when it stands in the way of selfish ambitions," he writes. And here are some more things posted today:

Abbot Joseph is an intelligent, informed, humorous, serious and widely published Catholic read, whether in books or in reflections posted in his 'blog, "Word Incarnate". His presence has also been desired in interfaith retreats which is very interesting, considering he's so truly Traditional. You can put his first book down after each chapter, but you won't want to. I'm so glad so many are finding him.
He looks intriguing, but I haven't read him. Do you think it's the Byzantine appeal?

Yes, partly, and I see that's the one applause I didn't mention. He puts everything into his every chapter, drawing heavily from Scripture, and from the virtues he lives, which he infers are quite doable by all. He's also very comical when one least expects it, and is profoundly poetic now and then. He's well worth the read.
